Grants

As a nonprofit entity and part of an accredited educational institution, the UC Master Gardener Program can take advantage of many grant opportunities to support program staff, operational costs and special projects.  Grants are funds disbursed by a granting agency which is often a government department, corporation, foundation or trust.

Potential grantees should be aware of requests for proposals released by granters.  Timely submission of a grant application that meets the needs and requirements of the granting agency may result in financial support.  Once a grant is awarded, most granters require the submission of progress and final reports during the award timeline.

Submitting a Grant

UC Master Gardener volunteers may not negotiate and/or sign any document that commits the University, including contracts and grants. If a UC Master Gardener volunteer or program coordinator identifies a potential grant, the program coordinator must take the proposed opportunity to the county UCCE advisor or county director.

Program volunteers and staff may contribute to the development of a grant proposal when the work is done with the knowledge and approval of a county UCCE advisor or county director.

Calendar of Upcoming Funding Opportunities

The UC ANR Office of Contracts and Grants developed and maintain a calendar of upcoming funding opportunities. This calendar contains possible funding opportunities which might apply to the UC Master Gardener Program.
