Fundraising is a vital component of the UC Master Gardener Program, ensuring that we can continue to empower our communities with sustainable gardening practices, educational outreach, and impactful volunteer work. By securing financial support, we can expand our reach, develop new resources, and enhance our training programs, ultimately enabling us to better serve the diverse needs of gardeners across California. Your efforts in fundraising directly contribute to the longevity and success of our mission.
If you have contacts you would like added to the list, or are interested in developing a customized fundraising campaign for your county, let us know!

Types of Fundraising Activities
As a UC Master Gardener program coordinator, there are several fundraising avenues you can explore to support your program:
- Community Fundraisers
Engage your local community with events like plant sales, garden tours, and workshops. These activities not only raise funds but also foster a sense of community involvement and awareness about the UC Master Gardener Program. - Sponsorships and Partnerships
Collaborate with local businesses, garden centers, and other organizations that align with our mission. These partnerships can provide both financial support and in-kind contributions, such as materials for community gardens or venues for events. - Giving Days
Giving days present a unique opportunity to amplify your fundraising efforts using the power of social media. These days of giving are powerful platforms to rally support from our community, partners, and friends. - Grants
Apply for grants from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources. Many grants are available for educational programs, community engagement, and environmental initiatives—all of which align with our work. Visit the Grant webpage to learn about resources and policies. - Ways to Give
There are many ways to give to the UC Master Gardener program. For more details visit the UC ANR Development Services "Ways to Give" page found here, or contact Mary Ciricillo, Director of Development, mciricillo@ucanr.edu..
End of Year Appeal
As the calendar year comes to a close, the End of Year Appeal is a critical fundraising effort that allows us to reflect on our accomplishments and look forward to the future. This is a time when donors are particularly motivated to give, often for tax purposes, but also as a way to support meaningful causes during the holiday season.
The statewide office partners with UC ANR's Development Services to develop messaging for the End of Year appeal. View previous End of Year appeal templates on the Fundraising:Templates webpage.
