Evaluation

Evaluation Training

The 5 W’s goes into depth about evaluation and has more information for those who want to learn. It explains what program evaluation is, why it’s important, who contributes, when and where the evaluations take place.

We also offer guidance and support on county level evaluations. County coordinators can email Jocelyn Mobley, Statewide Evaluation Coordinator, jmmobley@ucanr.edu to set up a 1-on-1 meeting about how your county can get more involved in evaluation!

Why Evaluation?

The UC Master Gardener Program conducts a statewide evaluation to ensure our educational activities align with our mission, vision, and goals. It collects behavior change data after education events on:

  • right-plant right-place
  • green waste
  • pest management
  • pollinator-friendly gardens
  • water conservation
  • food gardening

Data from statewide evaluation efforts are used in our biennial impact report to communicate and celebrate how the UC Master Gardener Program makes a positive impact in the communities it serves.

The evaluation process is an important component of telling our story and the impact we are making in counties and statewide. Collecting data from participants at events and workshops is critical to our ongoing success. Thank you for your help! Please use these resources as a foundation for learning about the evaluation process, training volunteers and implementation.
