Western Sierra Forestry & Natural Resources

UC Cooperative Extension is the applied research and outreach branch of the University of California, connecting applied research in forestry, natural resources, and youth development with our communities. The Western Sierra Forestry and Natural Resources program works to develop and deliver best management practices, technical workforce trainings, and community wildfire/stewardship education to enhance the productivity and resilience of forest ecosystems. Our workshops and field days provide practical science-based skills to support private forest residents, professional forest practitioners, and local agencies in tackling major issues of concern.
Our Forestry Education program delivers education training to PreK-12 educators through the Forestry Institute for Teachers and California Project Learning Tree field workshop programs.
