Steps to become a New 4-H Adult Volunteer

All new 4-H volunteers must go through a screening process. Our #1 priority in 4-H is the safety of young people. We do all we can to protect young people and keep them safe while they are in our care.  

1. Complete Interest Survey

2. Enroll in ZSuite

  • Submit 4-H adult volunteer application in ZSuite. Create a family profile or add to your existing one, add a new adult enrollment, enter all required information, and submit. ZSuite adult status will show as pending until all steps are completed and verified by the 4-H office.

3. Department of Justice & FBI Clearance

  • Complete live-scan clearance with the State Department of Justice & FBI. Forms are available in the 4-H office.

4. Complete New Volunteer courses in Campus Extension (95 minutes online course)

  • Create an account in campus.extension.org. Search “2024-2025 California New Volunteer Course", or click here. Enter the enrollment key, then click enroll me. Enrollment key can be located here.

5. New Adult Volunteer Orientation (NAVO) (3 hour interactive zoom course)

6. Pay 4-H Program fee

  • Adult volunteer program enrollment fee is $28 and can be paid in the 4-H office with cash or check or online here with credit card. Note: $3 credit card transaction fee will be charged.

Steps to become a Returning 4-H Adult Volunteer

Welcome back to 4-H!

Thank you for your continued support as a 4-H adult volunteer. As a volunteer, you play an important role in the development of young people, helping them to identify their spark and develop the skills and positive outcomes that lead to thriving. Below are the steps to being reappointed as a volunteer. We look forward to working with you as a valuable asset to the 4-H Youth Development Program.

1. Update your ZSuite profile

Login to ZSuite to update your profile for the new year. Please make sure the email address in ZSuite is correct and one you check regularly. If you changed your email or are unable to login, please contact the 4-H office. Note: Do not create a new household account.

2. Complete Campus course

Login to your Campus Extension account at campus.extension.org. Search "2024-2025 California Returning Volunteer" course, or click here. Enter the enrollment key, then click enroll me. Enrollment key can be located here.

3. Pay program enrollment fee

  • Adult volunteer program enrollment fee is $28 and can be paid in the 4-H office with cash or check or online here with credit card. Note: $3 credit card transaction fee will be charged.
