Lettuce, Ruby Sky 58 Days / Green to Red This productive all-season red leaf is a reliable standard. The dense heads of ruffled leaves are intense purple-red at the tips, and green at the inner base. Mustard, Chirimen Hakarashi 35-55 days / Green These Japanese mustard leaves are delicious. Featuring broad, curly leaves with serrated edges grown on a round stalk. This mustard bunches loosely and is commonly grown for baby greens as well as for fully mature greens. Best when harvested early, when they are 3 inches tall or more, about 35 days from sprouting. Swiss Chard, Bright Lights 52 days / Green leaves, multicolor stems Leaf stalks up to 20” tall; colored yellow, gold, orange, pink, crimson or purple. Lighter, milder flavor compared to other chards. Somewhat less frost hardy than other chards, but will overwinter in mild climates. As leaves are harvested, plant will continue to produce new leaves. Plant 4” apart. Purple 70 days / Purple / Golf ball-sized fruit A tomatillo with beautiful purple color and superb flavor whether eaten fresh from the plant, grilled or in salsa. Harvest should be done when the fruits are golf ball-sized and the papery husk has split. More sunshine will produce a more purple fruit. Tomatillos are not self pollinating so planting 2 or more tomatillo plants in your garden will help ensue the blooms will be pollinated. | ![]() |
Herbs
Basil, Genovese 68 days / Green / Leaves up to 3" long. Genovese is a classic Italian variety, with authentic flavor and appearance. It's tall and relatively slow to bolt with large, dark green leaves about 3” long. Height 24-30”. This common strain of Genovese basil can present some variability in leaf shape and plant size. Edible flowers: use the flowers in any recipe that calls for basil or to garnish drinks, salads, soups, pasta and desserts. The flavor is of intense basil. | ![]() |
Basil, Kapoor Tulsi 60 days / Green with pruple flowers Also known as "Holy Basil" and "Spice Basil", this has a unique, spicy aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. Expect compact but very full, attractive plants. Its purple flowers also make it a nice beneficial and/or ornamental. Native to India and used in Indian and Thai cuisine as well as teas and medicinal uses. Frequent harvests will encourage continuous growth and maintain the plant’s vitality. Basil, Large Leaf, Nufar 74 days / Green / Leaves up to 4" long A Genovese-type basil, Nufar will provide you with months of large, flavorful leaves for cooking. It also has good disease resistance. The leaves are up to 4” long, with a sweet scent and flavor. The plant height is 24-30”, with a bushy, outward spreading habit. | ![]() |
Basil, Siam Queen 60-80 days / Green Described as "highly ornamental", this All-America Selections winner has sturdy stems to support leaves up to 4 inches long! Its highly aromatic, licorice-basil aroma is more stable at high and extended cooking temperatures than other basils. Features compact, productive plants with unique, showy purple blooms. Borage 50-60 days / Green with Blue Flowers Borage attracts bees and butterflies, plus you can eat the flowers! Large plants bear hundreds of small edible flowers, mostly deep blue and some pink.
