This is an in-person demo class where you can learn how to dehydrate snacks and meals for your camping and backpacking adventures. We will demo a complete meal and taste some samples of food you can make to take on the trail. You will go home with lots of recipes to try.

Registration will include: samples, demonstration, resource material.

When: Saturday, September 21, 2024.  There are 2 sessions:

  • 10 AM till Noon
  • 1 till 3 PM

Fee: $15 payable before class (register below), or $20 at the door by cash or check (payable to UC Regents).  Note: Walk-ins will be limited so consider registering in advance.

This is an in-person, hands-on workshop. 

Got tomatoes? want to make them a meal? Join us for an evening of Italian cooking.

We’ll can some tomatoes, make some pesto for the freezer, and then we’ll dive into making pasta to put it on.

Registration will include: ingredients, jars, resource material and use of UCCE Master Food Preserver equipment. Bring your own tomatoes and basil or we will have some to purchase.  You will take home:

  • one quart jar of herbed tomatoes
  • one half pint jar of pesto
  • approximately one half pound of pasta made from scratch, to dry at home

Registration may include 1 guest.

When: Wednesday, September 20.  There are 2 sessions--you will choose one.

  • 1 till 4 PM
  • 6 till 9 PM
