About the Event

The "Three Sisters" gardening technique is where corn, beans, and squash are planted together in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Enjoy a morning discussing the 3 Sisters planting method with UC Master Gardener Aparna Bugwadia. We will discuss the history of the 3 Sisters planting, and how it is a sustainable and efficient way to grow vegetables. We will also discuss plant placement, and choosing the variety of squash, beans, and corn that provide optimal results. Finally, we will discuss the fourth sister and end the session with a discussion on post-harvest soil maintenance.

The talk (10-11am) will be followed by a tour (11am-Noon) of the community garden and UC Master Gardener demonstration garden. UC Master Gardeners will be available to answer garden questions.

Please bring a chair, water, and a hat to the talk.
