About the Event

Do you fancy yourself as a chef or a culinary gardener?

Can you just check out your garden and pick exactly what will highlight the dish you have planned? Today’s show for In The Garden with UCCE Master Gardeners is just the show you might need to hone your sensory perception in that regard.

Master Gardener Mark Oertel once again (for the third time) meets with The Produce Hunter Karen Beverlin at another special venue in Southern California. Meet Tristan Aitchison, Chef de Cuisine at Providence in LA. Host Mark along with Karen, who curates the local Farmer’s Markets, tour the rooftop garden at Providence to find out the results of Karen’s and Chef Tristan’s collaborations! Find out about the beehive up there that benefits the entire neighborhood and provides fresh honey to the kitchen and bar.

The mulch used is made up of cocoa husks leftover from the pastry chef’s chocolate creations. Zero waste is a hallmark of this Green Michelin-starred establishment! No wonder since the edible garden atop Providence has been recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation! Find out about using more of the nasturtium.

Think California Capers!
