Public Class: Gifts from the Kitchen- Session 2
uccemfp@ucdavis.edu
Hello to all of our friends out there in the OC! The holiday season is right around the corner, and the UC Master Food Preservers of Orange County are back with their popular Gifts from the Kitchen class. Please join us on Tuesday, December 5th when we will be teaching you how to make two seasonal recipes. For this class you will learn to make Cranberry Walnut Conserve and Maple-Pecan Syrup. Each participant will make-and-take each product. Cranberry Walnut Conserve is a delicious combination of fresh cranberries, raisins and walnuts, cooked to create a thick, sweet spread. Conserves are an excellent accompaniment for both savory dishes and desserts. Conserves not only taste great on top of a soft cheese, but also as a filling for sandwich cookies. The versatile, tasty Maple-Pecan Syrup is wonderful served over pancakes and waffles or used as a topper for oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream. The Maple- Pecan Syrup tastes like pecan pie. Both the Cranberry Conserve and the Maple-Pecan Syrup make the perfect gift to have ready to go for the holidays. Who wouldn’t love to receive one of these jars as a hostess gift?
If you want to learn to hone your canning skills, hang out with your friends and learn something new, or join a group of fun Master Food Preservers, then this class is for you!
