Master Gardeners assist in planning, planting, and tending a garden area at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center. Our goal is to bring sustainable gardening and environmental information to the residents and staff of the Positive Care program at the center.

The Positive Care program is the only HIV/AIDS skilled nursing program in the San Francisco Bay Area. One of the program goals is to emphasize the therapeutic effects of interaction with nature by providing a secure garden where residents can enjoy "activity, fresh air, meaningful conversation and strengthening ties to the affirming communities that make up one's life.”

Currently, there are eight raised beds and open ground for planting and new ideas. The area is wheelchair accessible and is a sanctuary where residents, staff members, and Master Gardeners can interact and work together.
