ANR raises nearly $100,000 on GivingTuesday

Generous donors gave $99,446 for UC Cooperative Extension and the statewide programs, institutes and research centers that make up UC ANR, as of 11:59 p.m. at the conclusion of GivingTuesday 2023 on Nov. 28.

GivingTuesday 2023 donors gave $33,353 for California 4-H youth programming. 

And thanks to the generous support of donors to the California 4-H Foundation, an additional $20,000 were distributed as matching funds to 23 counties.

Looking for reason to give locally? UC Master Gardeners of San Mateo & San Francisco County have been busy this last year! 14,800 volunteer hours logged, 1300 hopline cases answered, 95 classes & workshops provided to the public, 12 public gardens maintained & improved, 4 bioswales maintained & monitored.

This show of support demonstrates the impact we are having in our communities and the value that donors place on our work.

An additional $7,500 in incentive funds were distributed for qualifying gifts. These incentives are from the California 4-H Foundation and our ANR Incentive Fund, money that is collected throughout the year and used to encourage donor engagement and increased giving to all ANR programs.

Among county offices, UCCE in San Mateo and San Francisco counties raised the most on GivingTuesday, winning the $500 In-It-To-Win-It prize.

The 10 funds that had the greatest number of unique donors on GivingTuesday each won $500:

  1. Ventura UC Master Gardeners (MG) - 57 donors
  2. Sonoma MG - 47 donors
  3. Los Angeles MG - 38 donors
  4. San Mateo/San Francisco MG - 29 donors
  5. San Luis Obispo MG - 21 donors
  6. Orange MG - 21 donors
  7. Riverside MG - 19 donors
  8. Alameda 4-H - 17 donors
  9. Placer MG - 17 donors
  10. Orange 4-H - 13 donors 
Giving Tuesday Give-away! El Dorado County only. For a $25 donation - 2 of our class handouts on cranberries. For a $50 donation - the cranberry bundle plus 2 of our flavored nuts handouts. For a $75 donation - cranberry bundle, flavored nuts, plus our stocks, soups and stews handout. For a $100 donation - all of the above plus our citrus booklet.
