I had the picture below sent to me just this morning by Joji Muramoto and student assistant Cole Margarite of an unusual discovery they made while picking strawberries.
In the photo provided by Cole below, that cluster of round white objects stuck to the side of the berry are stink bug eggs. The egg mass for stink bugs is readily identifiable by the neat rows and geometric configuration in which the eggs are laid.
Short of taking the time and hatching out the eggs to identify what emerges, it is difficult for the non-expert to make a determination of what species of stink bug put these out, so no I can't share that with you.
I find these from time to time in strawberries, either on the fruit as is the case here, or on leaves. Stink bugs and their eggs, when found on fruit, are a turn off to consumers, but beyond that they are not known to be of economic consequence to strawberries.
The UC IPM guidelines for stink bugs describes the meaning of these insects in crop plants, so here is the link:

Many thanks to Joji and Cole for asking the question and sharing the photo!
