Stewardship Council Enhancement Program Grants Due April 27, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

The Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council (Stewardship Council) is soliciting concept applications for enhancement projects on the PG&E Watershed Lands.

The Stewardship Council anticipates awarding up to $3 million in grants through this competitive 2020 process, which will likely be the final round of funding made available through the Stewardship Council.

We encourage all eligible applicants who have ideas for projects that would enhance the Beneficial Public Values (BPVs) of outdoor recreation, sustainable forestry, agriculture, natural resources, open space, and/or cultural and historic resources to submit a concept application.

Eligible Projects include those on PG&E Watershed Lands that fall under one or more of the categories described below:

•           Habitat Restoration such as meadow or riparian habitat restoration, revegetation, and fuels treatments.

•           Physical Improvements such as new or additional trails, day use areas, onsite structure improvements, and noxious weed treatments.

•           Protection which may include studies or plans, but directs the majority of funds toward physical enhancements to the land, such as fencing, berms, vehicle barriers including boulders, and signage.

Proposal will be evaluated for merit with respect to the following six considerations:

•           Contribution to preserve or enhance one or more BPVs

•           Capacity and demonstrated ability to implement the project

•           Feasible implementation timeline, including time for permitting and environmental review

•           Provides youth and youth serving organizations meaningful opportunities and partnerships

•           Leverages funding from other sources

•           Includes partnerships and stakeholder support

The Stewardship Council does not require applications to be strong with respect to all of the criteria, but is looking to fund projects that address many of the criteria and are of high quality and impact.

Applicants are encouraged to discuss project plans with the Enhancement Program.  If you are interested in this opportunity, considering contacting Steve Schweigerdt at enhancement@stewardshipcouncil.org or (916)277-0700.

To apply, visit the Stewardship Council website at stewardshipcouncil.org/land_conservation/enhancements.html

Applications are due by April 27, 2020.

Thank you.
