“Food Forests” and “Plant food like wildflowers” are expressions at the core of sustainable gardening in the semi-arid, urban landscape we call our home in Southern California.
Since 2010, the grand Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino has a 15-acre section of former parking lot where a mixture of edible landscapes, native oaks, fruit trees and annual crops serve as a community resource and continues the spirit of the old South-Central Farm in Los Angeles.
Urban agriculture at The Huntington Ranch Garden is the topic of this week's In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners. MG and KUCI staff host Dece Morgan visited the gardens and talked to the staff about this classroom/research labs facility. Tune in and get inspired to eat your yard!
