Have You Heard About Newcastle Disease Workshop?

As you may have heard there has been a reemergence of Newcastle Disease affecting poultry in Southern California.

The CDFA and University of CA Cooperative Extension of Orange County are inviting a wide range of community partners such as local animal control, waste disposal and other organizations that may be uniquely positioned to help detect and report early outbreaks.

This disease has not yet reached commercial poultry facilities, but is primarily being spread through backyard flocks.

What to expect at this free workshop on November 10th:

  • Guest speakers include:
    Esteban Escobedo, Incident Command Chief
    Dr. Ricardo Gaitan, CDFA Public Information Officer
  • Current update on outbreak in OC and SoCal
  • Tips and techniques on how to identify and report outbreaks
  • Demonstration on proper cleaning and disinfecting
  • Question and answer session with the CDFA expert panel
