SJC and Delta Field Crops

Last year, we reinstituted the San Joaquin County Delta rice variety trial, after a four-year break. San Joaquin County is one of twelve locations of the statewide trial that evaluates commercial varieties and advanced breeding lines.

The California Plant and Soil Conference will be held virtually February 1-3, 2022. Registration is open on the conference website. The registration fee increases on January 25th. The theme of the conference is Solutions in a time of Scarcity - California's Water Future.

As the Covid-19 pandemic persists, and as government and University recommendations maintain that we should social distance, the SJC and Delta Field Crops Meeting will now be VIRTUAL. The meeting will still take place THIS Friday, January 14th from 8am to noon.

UC Cooperative Extension will host the SJC and Delta Field Crops Meeting on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 8:00am to 12:00pm. The meeting location is the Cabral Agricultural Center in Stockton (2101 E. Earhart Ave., Stockton, CA 95206).

From 2019-2021, we conducted trials to evaluate the efficacy of a new herbicide product called Loyant (florpyrauxifen-benzyl; group 4 herbicide; Corteva Agriscience) in Delta drill-seeded rice. Loyant is registered in rice growing states in the southern US but would be a new chemistry in California.
