2024 Farm Connection Day Booth

The 14th Annual Farm Connection Day (FCD) was held on May 3, 2024; where over 1,400 Yolo County K-6th graders converged on the Yolo County Fairgrounds for a half-day of food and agricultural related fun and exploration. By comparison, this event only had ~600 registered participants in 2019. The Yolo County Master Gardeners (MG) hosted a popular fruit and veggie stamping activity.  The participants created and took home painted masterpieces using the patterns created by pressing cut celery stalks and ribs, apples halves, and pieces of corn on the cob onto tempura paint-filled foam mats and then transferring the images to paper- no brushes needed! Based on our remaining supply counts, the MG's booth served well over 600 students and aided in the creation of some stunning and inventive works of art. 

 

The 2024 MG's booth would not have been possible without a strong showing from our MG volunteers, the majority derived from our recently graduated 2024 training class!  These newest Master Gardeners represent a strong, enthusiastic future for our Program.  A huge thank you to the 2024 FCD MG volunteers: Charlene Clavelli (MG class of 2024), DJ Andriessen (2024), Jalena Rusaw (2024), Jamie Cannon (2024), Jill Shepherd (2009), Kathy Hill (2011) , and Sherry Blunk (2016).
