Landscape Lush

I attended an informative conference in October that reported on the latest research results on tree root development in urban soils- the Landscape Below Ground. This was the fourth conference on this subject in the last 25 years.

About now, when the triple digits hit, this question sometimes crosses my mind. This month it crossed my mind in both my home garden and in our San Joaquin County Learning Landscape (demonstration garden) when some things began to look a little haggard after our first hot week.

Trees need water. No surprise there. Even after a good rain year in 2016-17, the stress of multiple drought years can still be seen in the larger landscape trees in any Central Valley town or city.
