From darkness to light

Here we are at the winter solstice. Soon, we'll notice more daylight. In Humboldt County, lights went back on after a harrowing 6.4 magnitude earthquake at 2:34 am that shook, rattled ,and rolled and left many in darkness.

‘Tis the season for citrus!

My fingers are crossed that the rain that started, continues in proper intensity and frequency to refill California's reservoirs! Davis enjoyed 1.5 inches with the weekend storm. Much more precipitation arrived in the mountains as snow.

UC Agricultural mission officially expands

UC Davis Specialists and Department Chairs met on Monday for their fall meeting. It was an informational packed meeting. There were many questions about the designation of UC Santa Cruz and UC Merced as part of the UC Agricultural Experiment Station (AES).

The desert blooms

It seems like short weeks are super packed. Last Monday Darren Haver and I drove to the Desert Research and Extension Center (REC). It was great to visit with Jairo, Stacey and Gilberto on our wagon ride around the REC. It was nice to see Kat as well.

Bountiful opportunities within ANR

Last week sped by in the blink of an eye. Monday Greg Ira and I attended the 7th Annual Summit for California Climate Action Network (CalCan). ANR was well represented with Betsy Karle, Dan Macon, Toby O'Geen, Devii Rao, Leslie Roche, Lillian Thaoxaochay and Daniele Zaccaria.
