Chandra Richards
Land Use Academic Coordinator II

I am a Land Use Academic Coordinator working in Southern California. in the past, I have worked on a plethora of climate action and environmental projects spanning agriculture, habitat restoration, and forest health. I supported climate-smart carbon farming through planning, education, and technical assistance towards a healthier food system across multiple agricultural operations. I also led multiple riparian and habitat restoration projects to remove invasive species and boost urban greening, especially along the San Diego River and in North County national forests.

I have a Ph.D. in soil biogeochemistry from U.C. Berkeley, where I studied the impacts of climate change on biodiversity, and double B.S. degrees in chemistry and mathematics from Penn State University. I am hoping to continue improving community knowledge about agricultural land issues to better safeguard our lands and build climate resilience.
