sbrowneregister@gmail.com.
Program: Whether you are annually pruning a deciduous tree or giving a new structure to an overgrown or poorly formed one, this class will help articulate the process for beauty and health.
Slides will show how to make use of a deciduous tree’s dormant season by showing examples of common ornamental and fruit trees; emphasizing structure, proper pruning cuts, and timing. General tree anatomy and physiology will be incorporated.
Speaker: Nancy Brown was professionally trained in Aesthetic Pruning at Merritt College in Oakland, CA, where she is the recipient of the Aesthetic Pruning Award and a Landscape Horticulture Certificate. Continuing her affiliation with Merritt College, Nancy now teaches Deciduous Fruit Tree Pruning in the Aesthetic Pruning Series. She also gives a lecture on rose pruning and assists with its hands-on section in Landscape Horticulture. Nancy was formally educated as a painter, earning her MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. She now uses her eye toward creating balanced form and composition in the garden.
