🏕️ 2025 4-H Summer Camp 🏕️

Welcome to 4-H Camp! We’re so excited for your camper to join us this year at “The Barrier” Sweetwater Youth Camp. Below you’ll find all the information you need to prepare for an amazing week away. Goals of Camp 
* To provide opportunities to experience personal growth in self-confidence and self-esteem. 
* To develop an awareness, appreciation and understanding of the natural environment, including a concern for conservation and stewardship. 
* To develop new friends and create lasting friendships. 
* To develop a program that makes fun a priority. 
* To provide outstanding learning opportunities. 
* To develop opportunities for everyone to learn and practice leadership skills.
* To model group living skills in a healthy and safe environment.

 

📌 General Information

Camp Dates: June 23-27, 2025 (Youth Senior Staff will be onsite 1 day prior and 1 day post camp, Youth Junior Staff will come up the same day as the campers.

Note: Though the facility is affiliated with a religious organization, 4-H Camp will have no religious content or activities.

Camp Cost:
Campers: $425 (includes meals, transportation, accommodations, camp shirt, and all activities for the week)

 

🛌 Sleeping Arrangements

  • Campers stay in same-gender cabins with 2+ youth staff and up to 8 campers.
  • Same-gender staff will be in each camper cabin
  • Chaperones stay in separate nearby cabins by gender.
  • Cabins are wood and canvas, with screens for ventilation, a small porch, and 5 sets of bunk beds with mattresses.

 

📞 Communication & Electronics

No cell phones – there is no reception at camp and campers will not need them.

An Emergency Contact Number will be provided (a Google Voice will ring all adult Camp Coordinators)

Emergency contact info for each camper will be kept on site with the adult Camp Coordinators as well as with the Camp Nurse.

 

🚫 Visiting Policy

We do not allow visits during camp. Rest assured, campers will be under the care of trained youth leaders and adult 4-H volunteers all week long.

💊 Medications

- All medications must be turned in to the Camp Nurse upon arrival in original containers with dispensing instructions.

- Include information in camper’s Health History & Treatment Form in ZSuite.

- The Camp Nurse will store and dispense all medications safely.

 

🚿 Facilities

- There are 6 showers total (3 per gender) that Campers will have access to in the morning (before flag raising), or free time. 

- There is no pool, but water games will be part of the week

 

🍲 Food

- Camp is nut-free; Campers should not bring any additional food to camp. 

- Vegetarian options are available; list other dietary needs in the registration form.

 

👫 Cabin & Group Assignments

- While we do take same-gender friend/clubmate bunk requests honored when possible, we do mix campers up during activities so that they interact with other campers from other 4-H Clubs.

- Campers interact freely outside of these small group times so they will have plenty of time with other campers they knew before camp who may not be in their cabins or small groups.

 

🦟 Mosquitoes

There are mosquitoes at dusk and dawn. Campers are encouraged to bring:

- Bug spray

- Bug-repellent bracelets or stickers

- Long sleeves/pants for evenings and mornings

 

🧳 Suggested Packing List

👚 CLOTHES

- Closed-toed shoes (open toed sandals are not safe for camp)

- Socks (enough for five days)

- Undergarments (enough for five days)

- Tops for hot days as well as cool nights (enough for five days)

- Sweatshirts/Jackets for colder mornings/ nights

- Pants

- Shorts

- Pajamas (enough for five days)

- Hat

- Laundry bag

There is a water play day so a bathing suit and cover-up is not required, but strongly recommended.

💃 THEME DAYS

- Twin Day (Tuesday)

- Tie-dye (bring a white item (Example: white socks and/or white shirt)

- Dance (theme TBD)

 

✘ Do NOT Bring

- Phones, knives, personal archery gear (will be confiscated for the week)

- Tobacco/alcohol/vape, matches/lighters, valuables

- Unreported medications

 

🍽 Camp Provides

- All meals & snacks, kitchenware, activity supplies

- Bunk & mattress, hand soap, recreational equipment
