Taxus baccata (Tacks-us  buh-KAY- ta)

  • Native to Europe, North Africa and West Asia
  • Yews are slow growing and can be very long-lived and reach heights of 131 feet, with trunk diameters of up to 13 feet
  • Yews are conifers but bear a ‘berry-like’ fruit instead of cones
  • Needles are spirally arranged on branches with a broad, low crown
