Picea abies (PYE-see-uh  AY-beez)

• AKA Mountain Spruce
• Native to Northern Europe
• Hardy & wind resistant
• Pyramidal tree, branches in neat tiers; can grow as much as 3 ft. a year
• Grows to an average height of 40 to 60 feet and width of 25 to 30 feet
• Cones hang down and has shallow root system that could cause damage to surrounding area
• Life expectancy 100+ years
