Learn About the Wildlife and Plant Life of Newport Back Bay on In the Garden Radio
This week on In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners, we learn all about a very precious, and very LOCAL, environmental treasure. UCCE Master Gardener Katrina Kirkeby talks with fellow Master Gardener Chuck Nichols about the Newport Back Bay.

Before the pandemic, Chuck had served as the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Master Gardener Lead for Steward's Day every Wednesday in collaboration with the Coastal Commission. Since COVID and the original broadcast of this show, The Newport Bay Conservancy has changed their schedule but still has some of the great opportunities as always for the general public (refer to www.newportbayconservancy.org).
Chuck will explain all about the history, wildlife, and plant life of Newport Back Bay and what activities the public can participate in such as habitat restoration. A special highlight is when Chuck relays a wonderful encounter with a famous host of a television documentary series. This is a rebroadcast from May 2015.
